Wave Soccer Club Announces Brayan Lopez as Head Coach of UPSL Team for 2026 Season
Wave Soccer Club is excited to announce that Brayan Lopez has been named the new head coach of the Wave UPSL team for the 2026 season.
Lopez brings an impressive background as both a player and coach, having competed and developed at the highest levels of U.S. Soccer. As a youth player, he represented Minnesota and ODP Region II at national events and began training with Minnesota United FC during the club’s NASL era.
Since then, he has trained with multiple teams across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, and the USL, gaining valuable experience at nearly every level of the professional pathway. Most recently, Lopez competed with Minneapolis City SC in the USL system.
In addition to his playing career, Lopez has built a strong reputation as a coach and mentor. He currently serves as the Boys Varsity Head Coach at Bloomington Kennedy High School and is the founder and head trainer of Top Dawg Soccer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Brayan to Wave,” Wave SC Director of Coaching Joe Voeller said in a statement. “His experience as a player at the highest levels, combined with his passion for player development and coaching, will be a tremendous asset to our UPSL program.”

Thank you to our generous sponsor!

What Is The UPSL Program?
The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is North America’s largest and most competitive pro-development soccer league, positioned in the 4th tier of the U.S. Soccer pyramid. Established in 2011 in Santa Ana, California, the UPSL has grown from 10 teams to nearly 400 independently owned clubs nationwide. It serves as a bridge between youth and professional soccer, providing structure and opportunities for players and coaches to develop their skills and pursue higher levels of the sport.
Operating year-round with two competitive seasons annually, the UPSL emphasizes openness, accessibility, and inclusion, attracting participants from over 90 nationalities. The league’s focus on grassroots development helps foster talent from local communities. Through its affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation, UPSL clubs can compete in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds, highlighting its commitment to advancing local talent and setting higher standards for soccer development across North America.
